More than 20 students at Providence worked together this year to plan, manage, launch, market, and staff a coffee shop on the Providence campus.
Take Ten Coffee House launched in October 2012 and ran every week the school was open until April 2013. The coffee shop goes on hiatus during the summer school break, and will relaunch with the start of school in the fall.
Led by the Shevaun Fortune and Brandon Post, students sold gourmet coffees and teas three mornings and two evenings every week.
Prompted by customers, and supported by marketing research done by the Introduction to Marketing class in the Business Administration program, Take Ten expanded its product offerings in March and April 2013, and put plans in place to add even more products in fall.
Take Ten also responded to requests from other parts of Providence to cater some special events and activities.
Sales grew steadily in each month of operation, and gross sales for this first year of operation totaled just over $4,000.
