Entrepreneur Competitions

Our business students are eligible for a number of entrepreneurship competitions, including the ACE (Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship) Student Entreprenur Compeititon. In Fall 2010, we made our first entry into the ACE competition.

To our delight, Jordan Siemens emerged as the Manitoba winner, and Western Canadian Regionals co-winner, generating strong media coverage in the process.

We’ll be entering at least one student into this competition in Fall 2011. We will also be researching other entrepreneurship compeititions for which our students are eligible.

These are excellent opportunities for students to:

  • Develop business start-up proposals and business plans
  • Hone their presentation skills
  • Build connections to mentors and fellow entreprenurs

If they can convince them they have a viable idea, potential entrants will be able to work with their fellow students on busines plans as part of their coursework. Students and alumni who have entered previous contests will show new entrants the ropes, and help them with their applications. Mentors will be asked to review proposals and give coaching tips for presentations.
